APE 2008

Just got back from APE. It was my first time doing a convention and I had a blast. San Francisco is a really cool place. Chris & I shared a table and next to us were Andy, Liz & Alex. I had my new sketchbook for sale, along with some prints & t-shirts. Be sure to check out my etsy shop. www.decalrobot.com

Here's a little sketch from lundy lane.

ooh la la postcards

Yay. Just received my postcards from overnightprints.com. I am very happy with the quality. Especially the spot UV treatment. I'll be using these as promos when I go to APE this year.

Lunchtime

Yay its Friday!!! I had a really good chicken burger. Raul had the same thing, but with a special hot sauce concoction. Dom had a pizza, which probably wasn't that good for his cold.

Detail schematic of my burger.

French Maid

Had a blast at the drawing club last Thursday night. The theme was French Maid. OOO LA LA

Comic-Con & Dr. Sketchy

Just got back from the San Diego Comic-Con. I picked up some sweet books and prints. The coolist thing I did there was to attend Dr. Sketchy. Its figure drawing in a bar!!! The models were awesome, the DJ was great and the atmosphere was inspiring. Wish we had one here in LA. These sketches were done on a tiny 3x5 sketchbook with a brush pen.

We stayed at the Sheraton Marina. Here's a little doodle from the view of our room balcony.

cintiq stuffs

These doodles were done on the Cintiq. I'm using an awesome application called Art Rage. Its super easy to learn and does a great job at emulating paint & pencil mediums. Five Star program and its only $25.

Cintiq

I've just received my Cintiq at work and now the switch to digital storyboarding has begun. Don't get me wrong. I love technology, but I will miss the tactile feel and subtlety of pencil & paper. Here is a doodle I did on the Cintiq for my dear office supplies that are now out of work.

space dude

This space dude was drawn with the awesome PITT brush pens. I xeroxed the original and colored it with watercolors. I guess cheap copy paper doesn't hold watercolors well, because the paper got all warped. Kind of a nice effect though.

beatnik & go-go dancer

Its been a while since I've posted. Thanks for the reminder Joe. The go-go dancer was done a few weeks ago at the drawing club in Glendale and the beatnik was just a little painting I did inspired while listening to my Bella Luna cd.

I also just finished shooting an 80's music video with some buddies from work. We shot it in all in one day and spent the next half day editing. It was premiered at TitMouse studios along with 5 other cool music video remakes.

jury duty

I just finished serving 2 weeks of jury duty. It was great. I made $15 a day. In all honesty, it was a really positive experience.

The courthouse is across from the Disney Concert Music Hall, so I was able to do a tour during lunch. Also, being on jury duty entitles you to a free pass to MOCA, which is just a block away. I don't understand modern art.

drawing club - 1920's

Whats better than being inside on a wet rainy cold night? Being inside doodling at the drawing club in Glendale. The place was the cat's meow. Here are some of my doodles from the session.

girl head painting

I've been doing a lot of digital stuff, so I decided to try out some real paint. This was done on a piece of wood (5"x7") with Cartoon Color paints. It was lots of fun, but I sure need some more practice.
